Abstract

Terrence Napier joined the Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory in 1988 having completed a degree in Applied Chemistry. He started his forensic career in the department that examined marks and traces and later joined the Serious Crimes Unit which specialised in the examination of major crime scenes, particularly using a wide array of enhancement methods. Terrence then joined West Yorkshire Police as a Forensic Science Manager, being tasked with increasing the use of footwear evidence within West Yorkshire Police. In 2002 Terrence left West Yorkshire Police to run his own business as a forensic supplier to police forces and has worked with numerous forces in England and Wales. To date he has examined in excess of 60,000 crime scenes marks and many thousands of footwear items.
