Abstract

Peter Gill PhD FIBiol is currently Professor of Legal Medicine at the University of Oslo and Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde. Previously he had worked for 26 years at the Forensic Science Service, UK. He specialises in all areas of DNA profiling technology, but has a special interest in statistics, computation and interpretation of evidence. Peter has more than 100 publications to his credit. He is Chair of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) methods, analysis and interpretation subgroup of the DNA working group, and is a member of the European DNA profiling group (EDNAP). He has chaired several DNA commissions of the International Society of Forensic Genetics (ISFG), producing several publications (such as recommendations on the interpretation of mixtures) that have become standard throughout the EC.
