Abstract

When it comes to applied media aesthetics, theory and methodology are less visible and more pragmatic than in traditional visual communication research. The reason? The artifacts that aestheticians create are generally for mass consumption. They must use mass media to distribute their knowledge, so in order to realize their ideas, practitioners have to be aware of the exigencies of marketing communication. The aura of scholarship must yield to practices that attract and hold attention.
