Abstract

As technology has advanced and the use of computers in education has increased during the past few decades, interaction and computer-mediated communication (CMC) has grown as an area of interest for SLA research, with findings demonstrating that interaction, negotiation for meaning, and attention in CMC environments have positive effects on a range of L2 learning outcomes. This chapter provides an overview of this productive relationship between SLA and CMC within the interactionist approach.
