This chapter discusses some of the major issues in CALL reading such as glossing, vocabulary learning, strategy training, and assessment. The relative benefits of various CALL reading assessments are also discussed, concluding that multiple assessments provide the most accurate measurements of L2 reading comprehension. Future directions are also addressed, suggesting that more CALL research is needed on reading strategy training, pictorial glossing and how different assessment tasks may moderate study results.
