Abstract

The city as a social form has long been associated with migrants and migrations. In the twenty-first century, global cities have come to be described as entry points, mobility nexus and nodes for increasingly transnational networks. However, migrants’ experiences of the city show that mobility practices remain highly differentiated and unequal. This chapter will explore the various time–spaces of migrants’ mobilities and immobilities and reflect upon the issue of mobility control and coercion.
