Abstract

In the literature on non-fiction transmedia, researchers have identified how making non-fiction transmedia can be considered a design practice. Further, that transmedia producers face the task of designing for participants rather than authoring for readers/viewers. The chapter reviews how this design practice has been conceptualized so far, and present contributions in the design literature that could strengthen the current understanding of how to design non-fiction transmedia. The Moken Project, an ongoing non-fiction transmedia documentary, is used to assess the relevance of these contributions, classified as the experience approach and the participatory approach.
