Abstract

In Bangladesh, children’s participation in television indicates the challenges they face in all media engagement. Data from children’s focus groups and interviews, plus interviews with stakeholders, indicate a general lack of commitment to children’s participation. The fast development of digital media raises further concerns about children’s engagement. It is argued that, unless agreement can be reached on a new charter to address children’s entitlements in digital spaces, Bangladesh will need to rely on the spirit of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to secure children’s media rights in digital domains.
