Abstract

Today, a large Japanese company, such as Hitachi or Sony, consists of subsidiaries, affiliates and joint ventures with subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers, as well as partners in strategic alliances worldwide. In fact, the value chain is broken down into a variety of operations, which are performed wherever they can be done more effectively. Japanese companies procure the required materials and parts from local suppliers as well as overseas suppliers. Therefore, like other countries, outsourcing and subcontracting in Japanese companies play an important role in achieving an effective supply chain management.
