Abstract

The hydrological cycle (HC) is central to life on Earth. Forests interact extensively with that cycle, with interdependencies going both ways. Thus the HC may influence the structure and function of the forest, while forest properties can feed back and influence the cycle. Understanding these interactions is important to us because of the extensive services that the forest HC provides, e.g. pure drinking water for our cities and flood mitigation.
