Abstract

Hospitality organizations that foster a positive approach to Human Resource Management (HRM) are advocates of the notion that it is their people who are the chief asset enabling them to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. Marriot, which labels their workers associates rather than employees, is only one example of a company that has a strategy of this sort so well embedded in the culture of the organization that it fosters great possibilities for competitive advantage.
