Abstract

Information is the lifeblood of hospitality, so advances in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are catalytic to the way the industry operates and competes. Indeed, the Internet is penetrating all business functions of hospitality firms, significantly impacting their intra-and inter-firm (co)-operations as well as their business models. Simultaneously, Internet advances are having a profound impact on guests' behavior and needs, while they also empower guests by converting them to active players (i.e. partial employees) of the hospitality firms' value chain.
