Abstract

The study of human interaction within and with the environment or non-human world exists as a part of many social and natural science disciplines. Particular disciplines and sub-disciplines bring different perspectives and knowledges to the study of outdoor pedagogies and nature-based physical cultures. In this section, we transcend boundaries between disciplines by bringing together chapters that are informed by research and theories emerging from a variety of approaches prominent in different social science disciplines. This is not to infer that earlier chapters do not do this, rather here the particular emphasis is on paradigmatic permeability.
