Gender in agriculture, as a topic of research, has attracted a considerable amount of interest among scholars from diverse fields, leading to a wide array of studies focused on the ways gender is constructed (and reconstructed) within farm spaces. Dominated by qualitative enquiries – and mainly focused on the sociological aspects of gender relations, divisions, distinctions and inequalities – the literature of gender in farming provides a rich body of findings on power relations, representational codes, gender boundaries and gender identities.
