Abstract

The case of Israel–Palestine is best characterized as a ‘metaconflict,’ 1 enveloping not one, but two conflicts. 2 There is the conflict itself, one based on a question of territorial control that has, to date, claimed 6,942 Palestinians and 1,127 Israeli victims (which includes 350 members of the security forces). 3 There is also a conflict about the nature of the conflict; narratives and counter-narratives wrestling for the hegemonic control on how the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is told—a Rashômon effect. 4
