Abstract

Martyn Hudson is lecturer in Art and Design History at Northumbria University. He is the author of the books The Slave Ship, Memory and the Origin of Modernity (Routledge, 2016), Ghosts, Landscapes and Social Memory (Routledge, 2017), Species and Machines: The Human Subjugation of Nature (Routledge, 2017), Centaurs Rioting in Thessaly: Memory and the Classical World, (Puncum Books, 2018), and Critical Theory and the Classical World (Routledge, forthcoming). His research focuses on aesthetic forms and their relation to social theory and philosophy and particularly on the visual and aural cultures of capitalism.
