Abstract

Carolyn Birdsall is Assistant Professor of Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Her publications include Nazi Soundscapes: Sound, Technology and Urban Space in Germany, 1933–1945 (Amsterdam University Press, 2012) and Sonic Meditations: Body, Sound, Technology (edited with Anthony Enns, Cambridge Scholars Press, 2008). Birdsall’s current research examines the early history of radio sound archiving in and beyond Europe.
