Resilience is generally thought of as a positive adaptation after a prolonged stressful or adverse situation. It is an ability to gear up one’s resources and bounce back from a negative or threatening experience. Resilience is not only about overcoming a deeply devastating situation but also coming out of it with a renewed energy and competent functioning. Resilience makes an individual to rebound from adversity as a strengthened and more resourceful person. No matter how threatening the stressor is, resilience empowers an individual to adapt and prosper.
