Abstract

Imagine yourself at your office desk, working on a computer. The glare from the screen is somewhat straining your eyes, so you look up for a bit of a rest. Out the nearby window, you see two colleagues sitting underneath a tree, having lunch. You wish to text them to say that you will join them shortly. Next to you are your mobile phone, a free Wi-Fi hotspot, and a potted plant with aromatic flowers in full bloom that remind you of a holiday abroad. As you type on your phone, you can hear the general din of other colleagues, happily chatting in the background about work-related matters. Although you are in a wide-open space, you feel like there is enough privacy to work (and text) without being overlooked. You are contented with being able to work in such an environment, for it makes you more productive.
