Abstract

In the chapters above, we have read about a wide variety of adaptations of Lowenfeld’s World Technique, and Kalff’s Sandplay therapy. On the one hand, these range from tools to help clients get in touch with their feelings; to gain awareness of underlying thoughts and motivations; to bring parts of inner experience to conscious awareness; and to become aware of family, or other interpersonal dynamics. On the other hand, Sandplay is used for the non-verbal, direct engagement with, and reordering of, pre-conscious aspects of developmental arrest and growth, and for the exploration and experience of the sublimity of profound spiritual experience in our journeys as human beings. We have also seen highly innovative adaptations of the sand tray and figures to a variety of applications in education and clinical supervision. Used to awaken the creative imagination and to include the inner aspects of the students in the educational experience, this returns meaning and individual relevance to learning. It vitalizes what has tragically become a global injustice to our children.
