Abstract

Every language is a means of communication within a specific cultural setting. The correct use of the language is not only a question of the knowledge of morphological and syntactic rules, but also of the appropriateness and possibilities of expressing oneself in different situations. This is an important part of the description of a language, though it is often left out of grammar books.
