Abstract

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 argued for the dignity of all human beings and their rights to freedom, justice, and peace. While such sentiments appear straightforward, the constructed meaning of human rights has been heavily swayed by Western thought and ideals about what constitutes dignity and justice.
