Abstract

In recent decades, as the “Kurds’ quest for expression of their culture and language has been denied” by the states in which they historically reside, “and Kurdish access to political representation has been quelled by policies of assimilation and repression,” 1 genocide, and other forms of terror and destabilization (detailed in the accompanying chapters of this Handbook), many Kurds have sought asylum in several countries.
