Abstract

As a subspecialization of Middle East Studies, contemporary Kurdish Studies integrates a wide range of methodological and geographic foci. The field includes the study of languages, literatures, and linguistics; research related to peace and conflict studies, ethno-nationalism, migration, and diasporas; and intersectional projects on gender, race, and human rights. Kurdish Studies also overlaps with anthropology, history, international relations, and political science. Over the last decade, Kurdish Studies has demonstrated an increasing openness to younger scholars with an interest in interdisciplinary and boundary-spanning work. 1
