Abstract

Regional papers were a curious British tradition, a very particular type of evening newspaper that, typically, was printed on pastel shaded paper. Manchester had The Pink; Sheffield was known for its Green 'Un. Coventry, Newcastle and Southampton were Pink; Aberdeen and Hull were green. In the days before instant access, Google and 4 (soon to be 5) G, fans would queue after the game to pick up a copy of these brightly coloured papers to see the first reports of what had happened. In this chapter we look at a largely bygone world where football fans didn't need to see things in black and white, as their views were already coloured.
