Abstract

Most of the international mining companies have been adopting sustainable development as their corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy for the sector since the middle of the 1990s. As Peru is the number one worldwide producer of silver, second of zinc and bismuth, third of copper, tin and tellurium, fourth of lead and molybdenum, and fifth of gold, the Peruvian mining industry is an important case for analysing how this process has occurred in the context of a developing country.
