Abstract

Using primary data describing the views of bankers themselves, senior leaders in the banking sectors and specialists (internal and outside consultants), perceptions around the interplay of rewards for employment in UK banks and their influence on behaviours are considered. The conclusion is advanced that changes to corporate policy and practice may positively encourage organizational citizenship among banking professionals, making them open to more holistic approaches to their reward management, while at the same time addressing regulation and public opinion.
