Abstract

Observable trends in technological change and their interaction with employee motivation and reward management are explored. Questions include employee expectations, comparing generations, in return for cooperation with organizational needs for work practices in digitalized environments. Specifically, with the rise of robot-assisted working, including among professionals, and the concomitant demand for creative and socially intelligent capabilities. Bringing in their wake demands for managers to identify and apply ideas for assuring individual, group and organizational tasks to be designed, monitored, measured and recognised under these circumstances. In doing so, it will balance both organizational efficiency considerations with those of social justice and the promotion of employee engagement while meeting individuals’ desire for autonomy.
