Abstract

Reward mix, in theory and practice, is considered to be informed by a set of insights from qualitative engagement with a sample of practitioners in and consultants serving the financial services sector. Moving beyond the frequent analytical focus on fixed and variable pay, a unified theory of reward mix – the components of ‘the reward offer’ – is specified, producing a framework to help understand the relative importance of the variety of factors influencing actual organizational reward management decision-taking.
