The rapid fire of images around us on billboards and television, in film and social media, can make it feel as though the most prevalent of them are of sexualised bodies on display. Amid them, the stripper, with her skill at bodily performance, stands out. The resonance of her image is perhaps in part because what she represents also reveals something about the conditions of our late-capitalist context.
