The Indian media is monopolistic in terms of caste, lacks diversity in its ranks, content and decision-making with upper castes holding the sway. The representation of the oppressed people: OBCs, SCs, STs and Muslims is negligible. Among journalists, two-thirds were upper castes of whom, half were Brahmins. Ownership of various media houses and groups in the Hindi and English languages follows the same pattern.
