Abstract

Health is essential to everyone. It is a primary resource and support for everyday life and the objective of living, and a positive concept to support daily functions and capacities in the community. A healthy lifestyle is desirable for all individuals, and it provides the means to a full life on Earth. Everybody has the chance of getting sick, thus shifting from wellness to suffering. However, in times of disabilities or incapacities, arising from ageing, sickness, exhaustion, or during major mass disasters or emergencies of unpredictable physical outcomes, health becomes the ability of the body and mind of a person to react to the demanding situation in attempts for recovery. Wellness promotes an active awareness of health. Achieving and maintaining optimal health by lifestyle modification is a lifelong commitment and undertaking. This new and timely publication aims to provide a comprehensive reference work offering students, researchers, healthcare practitioners, and policymakers insights to current scholarship and practices in community health with an interdisciplinary approach and a multi-terrestrial perspective.
