Abstract

Cultural values play an important role for organizational effectiveness and success in the hospitality industry. In this chapter, we review dominant frameworks of country culture, organizational culture, and organizational climates. We also summarize the findings from empirical research related to the impact of culture and climate on employee behaviors and customer behaviors in the hospitality sector. We suggest that managerial practices in the hospitality industry need to be adapted to diverse cultural challenges in order to contribute to organizational performance.
