Abstract

This chapter discusses the interdependency between inclusive leadership, diversity, and wakefulness, three phenomena that are of ongoing importance toward rewarding and fulfilling professional experiences. In the presentation of inclusive leadership, the chapter mentions a series of leadership styles that embrace humane ideals as components of inclusive organizations. The section about diversity highlights both wrong and right reasons for implementing this trend and the outcomes that are to be expected of each implementation. Finally, wakefulness is reviewed as a foundational practice to inclusive leadership. Thereby, two roadmaps are outlined: (1) AWAKENED, an acronym that brings together the behaviors of authenticity, wakefulness, agility, kindness, evenness (equilibrium), neuroticism, eagerness, and deliberation, and (2) the Noble Eightfold Path, an interrelated system of eight continuous efforts, which are right understanding, right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.
