Abstract

There is a photograph in the archives of Le Parisien Libéré depicting a provincial event: a 14-year-old Roger Planchon receiving the Croix de Guerre. He stands in his Boy Scout uniform before the Collège au Lazaristes and is invested by the provincial military commander. In July 1944, Planchon had been entrusted by a wounded résistant with the task of bringing news to his fellows. Arrested by the Germans, he was beaten and imprisoned but hid the written message. He subsequently escaped to complete his mission.
