Abstract

Online campaigning has fundamentally changed in the past two presidential campaign cycles. In 2000, campaign websites were considered new, and there were still candidates for United States Senate who did not have campaign-funded websites. A practical primer that I co-authored in 2001 opened not by describing campaign websites, but by making the case that a campaign website was a necessary component of an effective campaign.1
