As psychiatric nurses experience suicidal persons from diverse walks of life, they face pivoting them from a ‘death oriented position to a life oriented position’ (Cutcliffe et al., 2006, p. 801). This chapter presents a qualitative meta-analysis of how psychiatric nurses experience suicidal patients. Our aim is to summarize and synthesize existing research, revealing understandings that inform nurses in clinical practice and research.
