Abstract

The American medical system is fraught with ethical dilemmas at every turn: Should children be immunized against infectious diseases? How much risk is acceptable in testing new therapies and treatments? How should scarce health care resources be distributed? What are the right treatment decisions for any given situation? Should embryos be utilized to find new treatments? Should women be given the legal right to terminate pregnancies? When does life start? When does it end?
