Abstract

At One Time retarded ejaculation was considered to be relatively rare, as compared with other forms of sexual dysfunction. Out of 510 couples treated, Masters and Johnson found that only 17 suffered from retarded ejaculation. However, it appears that mild forms of this disorder may actually be highly prevalent, as attested by the recent increase in the number of patients seeking help for this difficulty. For instance, according to O’Connor, an increasing number of patients applying for treatment at the sexual treatment clinic of the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center consider ejaculatory inhibition to be their primary difficulty, and our experience at Cornell has been similar.
