Abstract

Anxiety disorders are among the most common mental disorders. Overall prevalence of anxiety disorders is high, with a lifetime prevalence of 28.8% and a 12-month prevalence of 18.1% in the United States (Kessler et al., 2005; Kessler, Chiu, Demler, Merikangas, & Walters, 2005) and comparable 12-month prevalences (14%) in European countries (Wittchen et al., 2011).
