Abstract

Peace Journalism has emerged, since the mid-1990s, as a new field within Peace and Conflict Studies. It offers both a form of critical analysis of existing war reporting, and a set of practical plans and options for journalists. Peace Journalism does not just mean ‘reporting peace’. In essence, it entails the application of insights from Peace and Conflict Studies–the sum of what is known and has been observed about conflict, its dynamics and the potential for transformation–to the everyday jobs of editing and reporting the news.
