Abstract

This chapter considers nontraditional approaches to humidity measurement. In particular, in this chapter, one can find a description of such methods as humidity detection using triboelectric effect, humidity detection via breakdown voltage, and humidity measurement using a heat pipe. It is shown that these methods can be used for humidity measurement. However, the reproducibility and accuracy of the measurements using these methods do not allow us to rely on their wide use. Self-powered active humidity sensors and humidity sensors based on a single molecular transistor are also analyzed. It was concluded that self-powering is a promising approach in the development of smart sensors, while the humidity sensor based on a single molecular transistor can be interesting in the field of nanodevices.
