Abstract

The operation of gravimetric-based sensors is based on the change of material weight in humid atmospheres. The features of measuring the humidity of air using the gravimetric method are considered. A description of the history of the appearance and development of this method is also given. The advantages and disadvantages of the method are analyzed. It is stated that gravimetric-based sensors were first used to measure air humidity. Currently, the method is limited to providing an absolute calibration reference standard. A description is given of the gravimetric hygrometer developed by NIST.
