Abstract

Marek′s disease (MD) is known as the most important threat in commercial production of chickens, turkeys, and Japanese quail. The loss due to the disease reaches US$1 billion annually [1], with mortality up to 60% in affected chicken flocks prior to application of protective vaccination [2]. Apart from significant mortality, egg production may also be reduced [3,4].
