Abstract

Porcine circovirus-associated diseases (PCVAD) result from infection with porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2).1 PCV2 has been demonstrated to infect the lymphoid, respiratory, nervous, digestive, urinary, reproductive, integumentary, cardiovascular, and skeletal systems.2 Regardless of the organs affected, all PCV2-induced diseases, including postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS),3 porcine dermatitis and nephrop-athy syndrome (PDNS),4 porcine respiratory disease complex,5 and reproductive failure,2 are classified as PCVAD. Commonly occurring in pig industry, PCVAD cause significant economic losses worldwide. 1,6-12
