Abstract

Canine distemper virus (CDV) is a member of the order Mononegavirales, family Paramyxoviridae, subfamily Para-myxovirinae, and genus Morbillivirus. It is closely related to viruses responsible for measles in humans, rinderpest (now extinct) in cattle, peste des petits ruminants in small ruminants, phocine distemper in seals, and cetacean morbillivi-ruses in dolphins, porpoises, and whales. 1-3
