Abstract

Microcomputed tomography (CT) is a 3D x-ray imaging technique based upon the principles of clinical CT. Specialized equipment has become available that tailors the micro-CT scanner to high-resolution imaging of small objects or small animals. These specialized devices can be classified into two types: specimen scanners that provide very high-resolution images of small objects, excised tissues, or postmortem scans of intact rodents and specimens, and in vivo scanners that are capable of producing images of live rodents.
