Abstract

The nameplate rating for a transformer is a design criterion. For a 65°C rise design, ANSI/IEEE C57.12.00 limits the maximum rise over ambient to no greater than 65°C when the transformer is loaded to the nameplate rating. This test is done under factory or laboratory conditions during a heat run load as specified in guidelines provided by the C57 standards.
