Abstract

Before discussing sampling and generalization in some detail, this chapter begins by providing definitions of the major concepts and elucidating the fundamental decisions involved in sampling with respect to the implications for generalization. This is followed by coverage of the various statistics and parameters that can be computed for samples and populations, respectively.
