Dimensional analysis is a mathematical tool that is used to reduce complex physical problems to the simplest forms before quantitative analysis and experimental investigation are carried out. The reduction number of variables uses the Buckingham theorem 1 as its central tool. In addition, it allows identification of dimensionless parameters even if the form of equation is still unknown. Therefore, it reduces, by an order of magnitude, the number of experiments needed to generalize or empirically correlate a set of data.
